When I saw my father-in-law slipping away at the late stage of Dementia, my heart ached. And my mother-in-law became the sole caretaker, who was often exhausted. But she was strong. Later, my father-in-law passed away.

I wrote this short film script, "Fragmented," based on them. The script is about this Asian American family in which the wife takes care of a frail husband in the late stage of Dementia and relives their moments during their marriage. When your loved one suffers from Dementia, your entire world becomes "Fragmented."

I feel stories about Dementia are seldom told in Asian American community; therefore, I want to make it. I hope the film will make an impact on Asian American community.

A private donor, who read the script, was deeply touched. She offered to fund us with $20,000 to make this short film.

However, based on our budget, we still need more than $15,000; therefore, we want to raise this amount.

We have contacted a city where Asian American population is concentrated, and they will work with us to have a screening once the film is finished. We also contacted an Alzheimer's organization, and they also will join us in a panel discussion during the screening.

The film is fully cast, with cast members that have strong performances. Most crew members are in position, and they have extensive experience in their fields. The film is ready to shoot around mid-June.

This short film script is a Semifinalist (top 2.8%) of the BlueCat Screenplay Competition, one of the top ten screenplay competitions in the US. And the project is the finalist of the Roy W. Dean Short Film Fund.

With your support, we can create a powerful film that resonates with the Asian American community and beyond, pays tribute to our loved ones who have been affected by this devastating disease, and brings hope to the caretakers who often feel lonely during this journey.

Your contribution will go towards production costs, including equipment rental, location fees, cast and crew compensation, and post-production expenses. No amount is too small, and every donation makes a difference in helping us bring this story to the screen.

To honor those who suffered/suffer from Dementia, we would like to list their names before the end credits of our film as a tribute. If you donate to our campaign, please let us know their names.

Thank you for considering supporting our film project. Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us.

Your donation will go through From the Heart production to a designated fund for our project. From the Heart Production is a 501 c (3) top-rated nonprofit which funds films that are unique and make a contribution to society, compelling stories with heartfelt characters.

You will receive Executive Producer credit for over ten thousand dollar donations. You or your company will receive sponsor credit for over five thousand dollar donations. You or your company will receive special thanks credit for over one thousand dollar donations.
