Jiming Lindal

Born in Shanghai into a three-generation actor family, Jiming started acting training at age seven and entered the film industry as an actor. Within four years, she acted in and dubbed features “Pomegranate Blossom ” and “Going Home” by Shanghai Film Studio, and dramas “Good uncle,” “We are good friends,” and “Encounter” by Shanghai TV station.

Jiming graduated from Jiao Tong University in Shanghai with a B.S. degree and helped a TV studio revise scripts and establish contracts with investors during college. She was further admitted to the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she obtained an MBA degree. Her management essays won essay competition awards at St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland three times.

For over ten years after her MBA, Jiming worked in Marketing Research for a variety of industry leaders, including ACNielsen and Overture, eventually leading to a major film studio in Hollywood: Universal Studios. At Universal, she was the Manager of Consumer Insights and a three-time Ovation Award recipient.

Residing in Los Angeles, Jiming presently writes screenplays. 

 

Her feature drama screenplay “Crazy Dance Day and Night” was a Second Rounder (top 15% of 6,764 entries) of the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition 2014.  She was a reader for the festival screenplay competition in 2015, giving notes and evaluating screenplays for the first round.

 

She received a feature film-writing certificate, earned with distinction, from the University of California at Los Angeles in 2016.

 

In 2016, Jiming wrote her short drama screenplay "Merry Christmas;" in 2017, “Sparrow’s Diary;” in 2019, "Love'un Christian," "A woman with broken wings," and "Fragmented;"  in 2022, "Another Sky" and "Miseria;" and in 2024 "A family I never have."

 

 Jiming's short film script "Fragmented" was a Semi-finalist (top 2.8%) of the BlueCat Screenplay Competition 2021.  The film based on the same script was completed on Oct. 16th, 2023, and is currently in the film festival circuit.  Jiming is also the producer of the film.

In 2023, Jiming's short film script "Miseria" was a Semifinalist (top 8.6%) of the BlueCat Screenplay Competition and a Quarterfinalist (top 20%) of the Screencraft Short Film Screenplay Competition.

​

In the summer of 2019, Jiming gave a workshop on screenwriting analyzing "Frozen" for the Genesis Writing Ministry summer writing camp program.  The workshop was well received.

​

Aside from writing screenplays, Jiming has been writing feature and flash stories for Chinese Christian Magazines such as <Cosmic Light> and <Behold>.   She published a children’s book <Season’s Fantasy> in 2016, selling on Amazon.   In 2021, Jiming and her husband, John, established the website blessedassurance.org to publish Christian testimonies, and she has been the editor and translator of the testimonies since. Since 2023, Jiming has been writing her autobiography.

Jiming volunteers for theater and film events and is a member of Women in Film and Film Independent.
